What I Got For Christmas: Equestrian Edition

December 28, 2020

If you’re anything like me, you’re a little bit nosy and love hearing about what everyone else has received (and given) for Christmas – I’m sure I can’t be the only one! I’ve compiled all the equestrian-related gifts I have been so lucky to receive this year from my family into this blog post to share with you. Perhaps you will find some inspiration for spending any Christmas money you might have got this year, or with all the end of year/January sales coming up, you might even be lucky enough to find some of these items at a reduced price! I’ve linked all the items for you, all currently at their original price but I’ll let you know if I see any good offers out there.

LeMieux ProSport Suede GP Square Saddle Pad

If you follow me over on Instagram or have read my latest blog post, you may have already spotted this gorgeous saddle pad, as Adee wore it for our Christmas Day ride. This gift was kindly given to me by my brothers and is actually my first ever LeMieux saddle pad! I have had my eyes on these smart saddle pads for a long time and now that I finally have one, I can honestly tell you it has definitely lived up to my expectations. I really love the suede texture and it feels such good quality. I was also really pleased with the fit of it. Adee wears a S/M and it’s in the new Mink colour, which I think looks absolutely stunning on him. There’s so many more great colour options though, and lots of matchy matchy sets if that’s what you like!

Ariat TEK Grip Gloves

I am a long-time lover of these Ariat riding gloves and my previous pair have been thoroughly worn so I was very pleased to receive a fresh pair in my stocking from my parents. These gloves are my go-to for everything, riding and about the yard. They are fairly thin so are a good option for those who like to wear riding gloves in the summer. They aren’t really designed for the winter (Ariat do have an insulated version of these that might be a good option if you’re looking for warmth) but I love them so much I wear them all year round anyway. I really like the snug fit of them and that they are very flexible so I’m still able to use my hands easily with them on, as I find some thicker gloves can be a bit clunky for the more fiddly tasks like tacking up and tying up haynets.

Toggi Socks

Is it really Christmas if you don’t receive a pair of socks? As I’m sure all my fellow equestrians will understand, I was rather happy to unwrap a pack of Toggi riding socks this year, as I’m always in need of new socks. These aren’t the exact style of socks I got for Christmas but I couldn’t find my ones online, and these are close enough. One thing I will say, having hacked out already in these socks, is that I would recommend doubling up on the sock layers if it’s cold as they aren’t very thick (which I usually do in the winter anyway).

LeMieux Rhone Diamante Dressage Whip

I also received a new schooling whip in my stocking (well, the stocking overflow pile as it obviously wasn’t going to fit in my actual stocking!). This one looks really smart with a shiny PU leather handle and diamante end – definitely the fanciest whip I’ve ever owned! I was in urgent need of a new whip after my last schooling whip broke recently and I like having a black whip, which looks nice and subtle against Adee’s black coat.

Aztec Diamond Beanie Hat

My sister and her boyfriend gave me this lovely black beanie from Aztec Diamond which is such a practical present given that I’m always outside in the cold! I absolutely love this knit hat, which has a really soft faux fur pom pom feature. I was very chuffed receiving this and I am particularly keen on it because of the Aztec Diamond “AD” branding on the front which conveniently is also the name of my pony! Very fitting.

Whale Of A Time Norfolk Quarter Zip Sweatshirt

Whilst it’s not really an equestrian item, I feel like I just have to include this beautiful jumper! I am so thrilled to finally have this quarter zip sweatshirt from Whale Of A Time (thanks to my mum and dad!), which has been on my wish list for absolutely ages. Although not strictly equestrian, it’s so nice and I thought you guys would like it too! I actually wore it for my Christmas Day ride, although you wouldn’t have seen from the photos as it was too cold not to wear a coat over the top. I’m really happy with the fit and quality of this jumper, it’s super cosy and I’m sure you’re going to see me wearing it a lot over on my Instagram.
